After our 1st one was struck by a truck, we ordered a replacement. It was not as flawless as the 1st but still quite good. The top cover black plastic did not fit as tight as it should and the lock mechanism in the large access door did not function properly.........but with a few adjustments of my own, it works fine. Overall, we are very satified and we have had several good comments from neighbors regarding its attractiveness.

This mailbox is great for the frequent short trips we take, we can have our mail stored safely in the box until we return. No more need to hold mail at post office, or have someone stop to pick it up when we are away.

It was so nice to go on our three-week vacation and not have to bother neighbors about collecting our mail for us or to have to go to the post office to pick up "held" mail. The box held it all with room to spare.\nWe did wish there had been a way to install it with the door toward the back of our property. (The location of the opening for the post made that impossible to do and still have the box close enough to the sidewalk to meet our local requirements.)\nWe had a little trouble at first getting the key to go into the lock, but it seems to be okay now.\nWe love having an attractive, sturdy, useful box to replace the beaten-up, falling-apart one we had before. Many of our neighbors have their mailboxes built into rock or brick, but of course they don't have the advantage we do of having the additional storage space. This way we have "the best of both worlds" - the attractiveness and the utility.

We go away alot and when we told the post office to "hold our mail" it ALWAYS got messed up one way or another. Sometimes they would even send it anyway and it sat in the box for days, checks and all, for anyone to take if they cared to look inside. \n\nThis beautiful mailbox has a removable "floor" which allows the mail to drop to the bottom of the box so we can have peace of mind that no one can get hold of it while we are gone. We just open the hidden back door when we get back and it's all there waiting for us. The only downfall is we had to explain it to our mailman! The first time we went away he saw the bottom was removed and put the mail inside attached by a rubber band so it couldn't drop....lol

I like securing the mail while on travel and the option not to use the lock box while at home. I had to whittle the plastic to make the removable tray and the locking door fit. I had to use the secondary lock mechanism. The back mailbox door gets out of alignment so it blocks the locking mail door from closing -- I have to continually remove and replace the back mailbox door.

We're in a drought so it hasn't rained since I installed the mailbox. Therefore, I cannot comment on how weatherproof it is. I do like the fact that I can remove the lag bolts and put the mailbox inside during a hurricane! Let's hope I don't have to do that, though!

The receptacle (back door) is very,very hard to open. This makes me somewhat unhappy with the product.
